Each year, AHS Thespian Troupe 5191 participates in the Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat (TOTS-Eat) food drive sponsored by the International Thespian Society. It is the ITS annual nationwide community service initiative. Over 291 Thespian troupes collected more than 354,000 pounds of food during the 2012 TOTS-Eat food drive. Last year’s generous donations to troupe 5191 were delivered to the Alice Food Pantry, which distributed them where they were needed the most.
In 2013, AHS contributed 35,112 pounds of food to the Alice Food Pantry and raised $2236.78 for them! Troupe members spent all October going door to door, collecting in the cafeteria during their lunch period, and sitting outside at WalMart asking for donations.
Troupe 5191 placed second in the nation in 2013! In 2007, they collected over 11,000 pounds and actually placed first overall.
Troupe 5191 will be collecting food for the Alice Food Pantry until November 5th! Bring Donations to AHS!

The International Thespian Society (ITS) is the Educational Theatre Association's student honorary organization for theatre students. ITS recognizes the achievements of high school and middle school theatre students. Since 1929, EdTA has inducted more than 2 million Thespians.
In order to become a member of Thespian Troupe 5191, a student must participate in a minimum of two different plays and have over 100 hours of work devoted to those productions. Once a thespian, they are able to participate in Thespian State Festivals and to attend the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska. In January 2014, AHS Thespians were invited to perform She Kills Monsters on "mainstage" at the Alabama State Festival.
